Troypoint IPTV setup walkthroughs, one screen at a time

Everything below starts from one email. The welcome message carries the login that every player app asks for, and it is built to reach you roughly 15 minutes after you pay. Keep it open on your phone while you handle the TV remote.

Begin with the Fire TV Stick. It is small and inexpensive, it plugs into an HDMI port, and the process is identical on a brand-new television and a decade-old one. For other screens, jump from the contents list. A quick map of which app belongs where:

• Fire Stick: IPTV Smarters Pro, brought in with Downloader.
• Google TV and Android TV: TiviMate, from Google Play.
• Samsung TVs, LG TVs and Apple TV: IBO Player, taken from the device's own store and activated online with two codes.
• iPhone, iPad, Android phone and Android tablet: IPTV Smarters Pro.
• Windows and Mac: the IPTV Smarters Pro desktop app.
• MAG box: no app at all, just a portal URL and the MAC address.

Begin here if all of this is new. You will add a small helper app named Downloader, use it to bring in IPTV Smarters Pro, and sign in. Plan on a few minutes of clicking, much of it spent waiting for a file to copy.

1. Add Downloader

   Starting at the Fire TV home screen, use the magnifying glass to look up Downloader, then download it and launch it once.

2. Give it permission

   Fire TV does not let outside apps install until you approve it. Accept the prompt when it shows, or visit Settings, My Fire TV, Developer Options, Install unknown apps, and flip the switch beside Downloader.

3. Fetch the app

   Inside Downloader, click the address field and enter the download address for IPTV Smarters Pro. Do not have it? Email support and we will send the current link. Press Go and let the file arrive.

4. Finish the install

   Choose Install, then Done. Downloader next offers to remove the installer file, and agreeing saves precious storage on a small stick.

5. Log in

   Launch IPTV Smarters Pro, accept its prompts, and add a new user. Enter the server address, username and password, all three from your welcome email.

6. Play something

   When the login is accepted, the channel grid loads. Choose a group, open a channel and press select.

Tip: To keep the new app handy, highlight it on the home row, press the three-line menu button and pick Move to drag it to the front.

This is the shortest route. TiviMate presents channels in a cable-style grid, and it comes straight from Google Play, so no sideloading is needed.

1. Visit the store

   Open Google Play on the TV. On a Google TV, the search box lives under the Apps tab.

2. Install TiviMate

   Look it up by name, open its page and press Install, then wait for Open to replace the button.

3. Add your playlist

   At first launch TiviMate wants a playlist. Pick the choice that matches your welcome email and key in the server address, username and password from that email.

4. Wait for the grid

   TiviMate assembles the channel list and the program schedule. Allow a minute for the first load and stay on the screen.

5. Star your favorites

   Long-press select on any channel to favorite it, which builds a short list of the networks you check every day.

No Play Store on your TV? Many sets marketed as smart run another operating system. Plug a Fire Stick into the TV and follow the first walkthrough instead.

These sets run IBO Player. It is activated from a web page instead of by typing the login on the television, which adds one stop to the route.

1. Open the TV's store

   Press Home on the remote and open the built-in app store.

2. Get IBO Player

   Look up IBO Player, then install and open it.

3. Copy two codes

   Two codes appear first: the device key and the MAC address. Snap a photo with your phone, or note both exactly as shown.

4. Visit the activation page

   Use any browser to reach the IBO Player activation page. Unsure where it lives? Email support and we will point the way.

5. Register the codes and your login

   Type in both codes, then save your login details from the welcome email as a new playlist.

6. Reopen the app

   Close IBO Player on the TV and start it again. The channels should appear shortly.

Heads up: typing the username and password into the TV does nothing by itself here. IBO Player needs both codes registered on its activation page first.

The app is IBO Player again, with the same activation page, only fetched from a different store.

1. Enter the App Store

   Select the App Store tile on the Apple TV home screen.

2. Download IBO Player

   Search by name, press Get and open it when it finishes.

3. Note the codes

   Two codes show up on the first screen, the device key and the MAC address. Take a photo before moving on.

4. Activate online

   In a browser, go to the IBO Player activation page, type both codes, and attach your login details from the welcome email.

5. Restart the app

   Double-press the TV button, swipe IBO Player away, then launch it again so the new playlist loads.

Tip: The Siri Remote makes typing long codes tedious. Do the long entries on the activation page from a computer, and use the remote only to browse.

IPTV Smarters Pro covers phones and tablets, whether you are on the sofa, at the kitchen counter or in a hotel.

1. Download it

   Find IPTV Smarters Pro in the App Store and install it.

2. Skip what you do not need

   Notifications are optional, and declining them does not affect playback.

3. Add your account

   Tap Add User, then type the server address, username and password from your welcome email.

4. Start watching

   Pick Live TV, Movies or Series, open something, and rotate the screen for a full view.

Mind your data: video is hungry for it. Stay on Wi-Fi at home and keep watch on your mobile plan when you are away.

Here too the app is IPTV Smarters Pro, taken from Google Play. TiviMate exists only for TV screens, so skip it on handheld devices.

1. Install

   Search Google Play for IPTV Smarters Pro and tap Install.

2. Add a user

   Open the app, tap Add User, and enter the server address, username and password from your welcome email.

3. Choose content

   Live TV gives the channel grid, while Movies and Series hold the on-demand titles.

4. Fix stuttering

   If video hiccups, move nearer the router or swap mobile data for Wi-Fi.

On a computer you use the IPTV Smarters Pro desktop app, so the same guide runs on a laptop or a full desktop.

1. Download

   Pick the Windows or Mac build from the IPTV Smarters Pro download page.

2. Install

   On Windows, run the installer and accept the defaults. On a Mac, open the file and drag the app into Applications; if macOS objects on first launch, approve it in Privacy and Security.

3. Add a user

   Start the app and choose to add a user, then enter the server address, username and password from your welcome email.

4. Watch

   Choose Live TV or a movie and press play. A network cable beats Wi-Fi when your computer has a port for one.

On the big screen: connect an HDMI cable and set the television as a second display in your system's display settings.

No app is involved here. The box reads channels from a portal, so you need two things: the portal URL that your login email provides, and the MAC address printed on the box's label.

1. Hook it up

   Connect the MAG box to the television over HDMI, add power plus a network cable or Wi-Fi, and turn it on.

2. Read the label

   Turn the box upside down and find the label. Its MAC address is a string of letters and digits split by colons. Keep it close, because support asks for it when a portal refuses to load.

3. Find portal settings

   Go to Settings, System settings, Servers, then Portals.

4. Fill in the portal

   Give the first portal a name, then paste the portal URL, as given in your login email, into the URL field. Confirm with OK.

5. Reboot

   Leave the menu, accept the restart and wait for the box to come back. The channel list then loads from the portal.

Tip: Long addresses are slow to type with the remote. A USB keyboard plugged into the box speeds it up.
